Mark Peter’s Diamond Designs history started before the official opening in Plainfield in 1991. It began years before that.  Mark worked at his father’s jewelry store at age 18. Through the years, he learned more about jewelry. During that same time period, Jean was working on her parent’s farm in Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa for nursing. After graduation, Jean moved to Illinois.  She stopped in Mark’s father’s store to buy a ring as a graduation gift to herself. Mark was happy to assist her. Little did Jean know,  he was not just interested in helping her get the perfect ring, he was interested in her!

But it didn’t stop with just that one ring. Mark kept “wowing” Jean with one beautiful ring after another.  Jean just couldn’t say no to all those beautiful rings. (he gave her a special payment plan).  Mark’s tactic worked to keep Jean coming back, and he finally asked her out.

A few years later, Mark and she married and Mark erased her debt. They started their own business out of their garage.  A year after the infamous tornado in 1990, they expanded Mark Peter’s Diamond Designs to a storefront in the Plainfield Plaza. In 2004, they moved into their current store on the north side of Plainfield. They raised their 3 sons during this time, who all graduated from Plainfield schools.

Mark has traveled to Thailand to hand-select precious and semi-precious jewels that he uses to create one of a kind designs.  Clients also have access to their top jewelry advisors.  The repair shop is furnished with state of the art equipment, and a master jeweler, with over 35 years of experience.

For over 27 years, Mark and Jean have been active in supporting the community. The local food pantry, local organizations, schools, and multiple other groups are among who they donate.
